Where She Gone Blues

    Read You Right

Words and Music © Roger Hammer

I was standing alone one night, when I laid
Eyes on the perfect sight.  She said

           “Please take me home
           I’m alone for the night
           Thought I had nothing going
But I have now if I read you right

           Read you right.”

“I’m a traveler here,” she said, “And I’m
Tired and ready for bed.  I have

           Traveled all day
           With nobody in sight
Saw no sign on the way
But I have now if I read you right

           Read you right.”

As if magic had turned the air into the
Atmosphere of a Fair, she said

           “I’m out here to roam
all the day and all night
to live life as a poem
and I only want to read you right.
You to me are a poem
All I want to do is read you right.

           Do I read you right?
           Read you right

I Know (What You Don’t Know)

Words and Music © Roger Hammer

    I know
I know what you don’t know
    I know
I know what you don’t know

You’ve been messin with my livin
You’ve been messin with my life
But I got you now on something that’s a secret
    But I know

    I know
I know what you don’t know
    I know
I know what you don’t know

I see you with my lover
I see you with my wife
I see you both together, it’s a secret
    But I know

    I know
I know what you don’t know
    I know
I know what you don’t know

    Baby B

Words and Music © Roger Hammer

Baby B, baby be my one and only lover

Baby B, won’t you baby me with your lovin and your kissin

Baby B, baby be my little kissin cousin
Baby B, on your knees your Daddy Bee’s a buzzin

           Darlin Baby B

So baby, be my Baby B tonight

    Rumors Say

Words and Music © Roger Hammer

What do know but what they tell me?
    Suppose that rumor comes true?

    Something mighty strong compels me
To do what I want to do

           I’ve been getting around
           Or so the people say
           I’ve been getting around
           Or so the rumors say

People look and some will talk on
    About everything they do

Some will stay and some will walk on
Tell me, what you been up to?

           I’ve been getting around
           Or so the people say
           I’ve been getting around
           Or so the rumors say

Got a special thing to tell you
That will serve to pass the while

    Special art of conversation
    Guaranteed to make you smile

Nothing else promotes you, (hey hey!)
Like that old grapevine can do

    According to that gossip, baby
I’ve done things I never knew

           Or so the rumors say

    Fall River

Words and Music © Roger Hammer

We were dreaming in mountains of quiet
On the Big Thompson side of the part
While nearby Fall River Canyon was fighting
Its waters, pent up and dark

We were sleeping right next to the river
    Flowing happily and bubbling down
Not aware just how lucky we’d been there
At Stony Knob Cabin on the Big Tom

           Fall River, river fall
           Fall River, river fall

Just a mile away at Fall River
    Where nobody was even awake
That ol’ crack in the dam started thinking
How it seemed like a good time to break

First it yawned like you do when you’re waking
And it stretched out its arms as you do
Then it opened up wide with a quaking
Sending ten million gallons on through

           Fall River, river fall
           Fall River, river fall

It came down to some serious trouble
With the worst flood they ever had seen
For the level in town still would double
Till the foundations started to lean

Downtown Estes was lost in an ocean
All the curios shops were marine
They said, “Surely Lake Estes can hold it.”
But of course that remained to be seen

           Fall River, river fall
           Fall River, river fall

For two special people that morning
Was the last they ever would see
They were camping in the way of Fall River
And the way of the river rules supreme

They were camping in the way of Fall River
And the way of the river rules supreme

           Fall River, river fall
           Fall River, fiver fall

    The Price You Pay

Words and Music © Roger Hammer

My love has come and gone
    It hasn’t been so long
You take it day by day
    There is no other way

           Well I tried
           And I cried
           That’s the price you pay

I called her on the phone
    But never found her home
    Looked for her everywhere
Till I knew she didn’t care

           Well I tried
           And I cried
           That’s the price you pay
Being in love is so hard it seems
                   You know it’s true
Someone will answer all your dreams
And then they’ll make you blue

    (Instrumental verse)

Being in love is so hard it seems
                   You know it’s true
Someone will answer all your dreams
And then they’ll make you blue

My love has come and gone
    It hasn’t been so long
You take it day by day
    There is no other way

           Well I tried
           And I cried
           That’s the price you pay

           That’s the price you pay

    Lovers II Haters

Words and Music © Roger Hammer

Here’s our story, you know it’s true
I’ve been to hell and back with you
I’ve heard the news but there’s nothing new
It’s been some kinda war that we’ve been through

Easy now, it’s over my head
Like bringin some one back from the dead
Your life don’t end when you leave your bed
Gone full circle now, we’ve been led

           From lovers
           To haters
           To lovers

Red light, green light, what’s your sign?
Ready or not, it’s time to draw the line
I’ve seen it all, not I’m going blind
Everything is yours that I thought was mine

    That’s our story, forever true
I’ve been to hell and back with you
I’ve heard the news but there’s nothing new
It’s been some kinda war that we’ve been through

           From lovers
           To haters
           To lovers

           From lovers
           To haters
           To lovers

    Where She Gone Blues

Words and Music © Roger Hammer

    I love my baby
    Even when she’s gone
    I love my baby
    Even when she’s gone

           I love my baby
           Where’s my baby gone?

    I miss my baby
    When my baby’s gone
    I miss my baby
    When my baby’s gone

           I miss my baby
           Where’s my baby gone?

    I’ve Been Around

Words and Music © Roger Hammer

I’ve been around enough to know
I’ve been around enough to know
I’ve been around enough to know you are the one

I’ve seen women come and go
I’ve seen women come and go
I’ve seen women come and go just like the sun

           Woo hoo hoo hoo
I’ve been around enough to know you are the one

I’ve been all kinds of places
Here and there and in between
I’ve seen all kinds of faces
Like in the pages of a magazine

I’ve seen women come and go
I’ve seen women come and go
I’ve seen women come and go just like the sun

I’ve been all kinds of places
Here and there and in between
I’ve seen all kinds of faces
Like in the pages of a magazine

I’ve been around enough to know
I’ve been around enough to know
I’ve been around enough to know you are the one

    Woo hoo hoo hoo
I’ve been around enough to know you are the one

    Do It All Again

Words and Music © Roger Hammer

    When I met you I didn’t know
What it would take to win your love for me
All I could do, all I could show
Was express my love for you to see

I have learned so many things since then
I have learned not how to cry but when
I think about it now from where I’ve been
And I go back, go back and do it all again

When I was young I had to learn
All the facts of life that never end
I made mistakes and I got burned
My broken heart became my closest friend

I have learned so many things since then
I have learned not how to cry but when
I think about it now from where I’ve been
And I go back, go back and do it all again

My love your you will never die
It only grows from knowing you each day
And if I stop and wonder why
I can see it was the only way

I have learned so many things since then
I have learned not how to cry but when
I think about it now from where I’ve been
And I go back, go back and do it all again

Go back and do it all again
